ONLINE English BIIAB Geaccrediteerde Opleidingsmodule - The Whisky Ambassador

The Whisky Ambassador programme is the original accredited training course about whisky. Having been established for a number of years, it is now being delivered globally. It is a fun and interactive training programme designed specifically for the Licensed Trade, giving staff the knowledge, skills and confidence to talk to customers about Scotland’s national drink. This leads to better customer experience and increased sales. 

The Whisky Ambassador course can also be followed online. You can participate in a familiar environment using your own computer or tablet. You will receive all other necessary material from us, follow the lessons at the agreed times and take the online exam.

The content of the course is the same as that of the on-site courses. You also do the practical part (technical tasting) at home with the test package supplied by us. If you do not have suitable tasting glasses? No worries! If desired, we supply 6 test glasses for a reduced price.

How to follow an online course?

The Whisky Ambassador uses professional meeting software for the online courses. This is software that you can install on your own computer or smart device for free. You also do not need an account to participate. This allows you to participate in our lessons, ask questions and see the teacher and fellow students. Shortly before the course you will receive an invitation for a test connection so that we can test whether it is possible for you to take the course.

You need the following things to participate:

• A computer (recommended) or smart device (preferably a tablet) with a webcam and microphone

• A reasonable to good internet connection

• A room in the house where you will not be disturbed during the course

• At least 6 good tasting glasses for the “Technical tasting” part

2 half-days

The on-site course is one whole working day. Because it is not pleasant to spend a whole day online with attending a course, we have split the online course into two halfs. Both parts take 2 x 1.5 hours + 45 minutes for the exam on the second day. There is a 15-minute break between the 1.5 hour parts and the exam, so that you can charge for the second part and / or prepare your things for the exam. We have a morning program and an evening program, so that you can follow the course on a part of the day that suits you best.

Exam

At the end of our course day there is a practical and written exam. The practical exam is a blind tasting of four whiskies of which you have to recognize at least two. The written exam is a multiple choice exam of 30 questions, of which you have to answer 21 correcty to pass the exam. We guarantee your exam, which means you can retake the exam as often as you need withoud extra costs. 

When you pass

When you complete the course and exam succesfully you can proudly call yourself an Ambassador of this great product! You get a certificate and a beautiful pin to prove this.
